GET TO KNOW OUR TEAM
Piper specializes in the fundamentals of all things hair and prefers simplicity in its highest quality form for both technical hair styling and running a small business. Piper’s work is reflective of the foundational techniques that were made famous by Sassoon in the 1960’s and showcases their commitment to detail.
As well as training in London at the Sassoon academy, Piper finds time to stay relevant by continuing their education as well as teaching others. Through the Old Hat Prospect training program, Piper and team have a refined a way to pass on their knowledge and ensure a quality education to junior staff members. While Piper’s time at the salon is divided between working behind the chair and educating junior staff members, outside of the salon they love to play soccer and spend time with their son.
Lindsay’s passion for all things hair began at the Aveda Institute of Victoria, where she completed her diploma in 2011 followed by a six-month internship. Her honest, driven, and problem-solving attitude then led her to a teaching position in the cosmetology department at the Institute, where she began honing
and perfecting her updo skills. Lindsay then went on to earn her master colourist certification through Pravana. While she loves all aspects of her job as a stylist, Lindsay particularly loves a good challenge and finds corrective work both in colours and cutting rewarding. Lindsay’s style is classic with an edge,
which translates to her work in the salon. Lindsay loves to destress with crafting and quality time with her dog.
Molly began her career in hair with the Aveda institute of Victoria where she received her diploma. From there she continued her education through an internship with the Old Hat where she refined her skills in the Sasoon cutting method. Through additional education, Molly has developed a keen eye for balance and detail, which can be seen transferred to her work in the salon. Her goal is to enhance her clients look
through classic and timeless cutting, highlighting, and lowlighting techniques. Molly especially loves helping people work towards long-term goals for their hair. When she is not in the Salon, Molly spends her time working on her degree at Uvic, or with friends and family.
Kate’s love of hair started early in life, when she began experimenting with colour and cuts as a teenager as an outlet for self expression. After receiving her diploma from the Aveda Institute of Victoria in 2009 she went on to earn her master colourist certification through Schwarzkopf as well as additional colour
certifications through Pravana. She loves helping her clients work through difficult colour corrections as well as balayage, highlights, and vivid colour applications. Her positive, adventurous, and upbeat outlook on life translates both inside and outside the salon. When Kate is off work she is often sailing, scuba diving, going to shows, or spending time with friends.
Jordyn began her career in styling by receiving her diploma through the Aveda Institute of Victoria. She then went on to refine her skills in classical cutting methods through an internship with the Old Hat. She has since expanded her skill set through additional education and chosen to specialize in all things
barbering, including beard trims, and straight blade work. Jordyn applies the fundamental and timeless techniques of styling and offers a uniquely tailored approach to barbering to each individual client. When Jordyn is not in the salon she loves to work out at the gym.
Zoe’s career in hair started in Alberta, where she received her initial diploma as well as completed multiple advanced classes through Redken Academy. Her love of travel brought her to Montreal where she continued her hair education, and then to the West Coast where she now applies her skills behind the
chair. While Zoe loves all aspects of her job, she is especially inclined towards creating soft and textured upstyles, balayage colours, and bright vivid colours. Zoe loves being creative in all aspects of her life, so when she is not styling hair, she is often creating art with paints
Caryn earned her diploma from the Aveda Institute of Victoria, where her passionate, friendly, and artistic approach to hair styling began. Through additional education in hair and over 10 years of experience in the industry, Caryn developed her love of both colour services and transformation cuts. Her perfectionism and artistry are what make balayage and vivid colour applications her favourite. Caryn approaches her
days as well as her client relationships with dedication and positivity and is always wearing a smile. When Caryn is not at the salon she is often found hanging with her identical twin, or her cats.
Carli’s sweet, smiling face is often the first thing to be seen when walking in the salon. She not only takes care of making things run smoothly for everyone at the Old Hat but also offers services as an image consultant and makeup artist, including style and colour consultations, personal shopping, event consultations, and styling for photoshoots. Carli’s drive for all things creative led her towards her
education through both the South African Image Academy and Blanche Macdonald. Her areas of interest outside of the salon are photography, dance and theatre, and arts and crafts.
Sammy’s hair career began at The Academy of Excellence where she received her Cosmetology diploma followed by continued education through a training intensive with senior stylists of The Old Hat. She is passionate about learning within the industry and is always improving her skills. Sammy’s favourite services behind the chair are colours, especially highlights and bright vivid
applications. She is inspired by and loves a challenge, especially helping her clients through
transformative hair services. In Sammy’s off time she enjoys visiting and riding her horse,
spending time with friends and playing games.
